What defines each style

Modern minimal is about clean lines, handle-less storage and a restrained palette of whites, greys and one accent. Japandi blends Japanese restraint with Scandinavian warmth — light oak, rattan, linen, low furniture and earthy neutrals.

Materials that work in India

For Japandi, use oak or ash-finish laminates or veneers, cane panels on shutters and lime-wash textures on feature walls. For modern minimal, matte acrylic or PU shutters, quartz tops and concealed profile lighting give a crisp look that is easy to maintain in dusty conditions.

Adapting to Indian living

Both styles need generous hidden storage to stay clutter-free. Plan a pooja unit in matching materials, choose stain-resistant fabrics, and add warm 3000K lighting so spaces feel inviting rather than stark.
